For those who have reasonable experience with sharpening, a finish stone of 8000 grit is recommended Leather Cigar Case. If unsure, or for beginners, sharpening stones with a grit between #3000 and #6000 will produce acceptable results.

If you are only using it for cigar caps, go all the way to the #8000 grit. This is because the refinement you get from a #8000 grit stone is exceptional. With its extremely fine grit size, the #8000 grit honing stone is perfect for the final polishing of bevels and back sides. It gives a fine, razor-sharp edge to any tool of the knife blade.
