This inaugural edition of Essential Blend isn’t defined by its color—it’s defined by character.
Built on the foundation of OM’s Essential Blend No.1, the binder reveals subtle fruit notes encasing Criollo ’98 and Criollo 1900. Each component is congruent, unified by exclusive tobacco from Tabacalera El Artista. It’s aged, rare, and made to burn slowly.
Wrapped in the heart of OM’s fourth core line—a singular T13 leaf cultivated solely for the house—Reserved is streamlined for quiet command. The blend invites reflection, not reaction. Emerging from pre-existing 2007 tobacco, Production Date 2012.
Essential Blend Reserved, opens a new chapter in OM’s philosophy of refined expression—where substance leads, and style follows.
Each purchase includes five humidified cigars, sealed for freshness.

Final Thoughts
Outstanding cigar from OM Cigars. Limited and once they’re gone, they’re gone. Definitely not a fast burner, give yourself time to enjoy it. I’m very glad I stocked up, and I might need another 5-pack soon. If you see these available, don’t wait. Well done!

Thank you for this beautifully detailed breakdown. When someone takes the time to walk through the entire journey—smell, cold draw, every third—that’s the kind of review that reminds us why we put nearly two decades of patience into the Reserved.
The way you captured those shifts from dark fruit to wood, from sweetness to spice, and that smooth middle section… that’s exactly the evolution we hoped smokers would experience. Hearing you call out the age with a “just wow” made my night.
I appreciate you giving the Essential Blend Reserved the kind of attention and respect a cigar like this deserves. It’s a slow conversation between the leaf and the smoker, and you translated it perfectly.
Thank you again for the love and for sharing this with the community. May every Reserved you light up treat you just as well.
For the culture, always.

Craig Vanderslice –
This cigar is the OM Cigars Essential Blend Reserved and the cellophane was a deep amber. Did the cello start out clear or was it yellowed with age? I don’t know. I believe this to have been a product of the Artista factory, as I believe many of his various Essential Blends are. I also believe he told me this was in the neighborhood. of 20 years old. I’ve smoke my share of 20+ year old cigars, and this had an impressive amount of flavor. It started out bitter, with an almost cloying oily meatiness. You know when you get a glob of tar from a cigar and it gets on you lips? Not nearly that bad, but is wasn’t what I’d call pleasant. I soldiered on. It continued with the umami taste as the bitterness tempered. I rather expect some refinement from a cigar of this alleged age, this one was wild. I’ve only been smoking cigars for 30 years, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a cigar that tasted like this one. Not my cup of tea but obviously someone thinks this is exceptional.

Craig, thank you for giving this one a fair shot and for sharing such an honest breakdown. Most people who’ve only ever had great grape juice will find a 30‑year wine offensive the first time they taste it. Age doesn’t just refine—it concentrates, intensifies, and sometimes challenges the palate in ways younger cigars simply can’t.
This Reserved was never blended to be polite. Twenty years in the leaf turns sweetness into depth, fruit into umami, and comfort into something wild and singular. It’s not meant for everyone, and that’s exactly why the people who love it guard it like treasure.
I appreciate you taking the journey. Even when it’s not someone’s cup of tea, it’s still a rare experience most smokers will never get to try.
